Following their brand revitalization, Propeller (formerly known as eLumin) approached us to revamp their website. Collaborating with the company's founders, we undertook the task of redesigning a website that not only resonates with their updated brand identity but also enhances conversion rates.

CompanyOS is an all-in-one tool for managers that helps them organize their team, promote accountability. and keep their team moving forward. It's an all-in-one tool for actions, meeting agendas, goals, decisions, and more. The app is the digital embodiment of the management principles of Matt Mochary, a top CEO coach and founder of this venture.

We worked with Matt over the span of 15+ months on multiple iterations of the app, adding and refining features based on stakeholder and user feedback.

Biris+Goran stands as a prominent Romanian law firm with a primary focus on tax law. As an outcome of my personal initiative to enhance the visual appeal of exceptional Romanian enterprises, I embarked on a redesign endeavor. This revitalized brand identity aims to align with contemporary norms, effectively conveying the qualities sought by clients in a law firm like Biris+Goran: reliability, expertise, and confidentiality.

SmartBill is a popular accounting platform in Romania, catering to numerous small and medium-sized companies. Recently, they revamped their brand identity by replacing their old mascot with an abstract monogram. This decision came as a disappointment to us since the old mascot had accumulated years of brand equity. The new graphic solution appears to be less creatively flexible and lacks the personality that the mascot brought. We believed that abandoning the mascot didn't make sense, so we proposed a new concept. Rather than getting rid of the mascot, we suggested making it the center of the brand's identity.

Grover, a cutting-edge unicorn start-up, is revolutionizing the retail industry with its innovative tech-for-rent service. Rather than shelling out hefty sums for the newest iPhone or MacBook, you now have the option to conveniently rent these devices for as long as you require, and effortlessly upgrade to the latest models as soon as they become available. Collaborating closely with Grover, we had the privilege of designing the seamless in-app experience for utilizing the brand-new Grover card. This card allows users to earn rewards with each use, which can then be redeemed to enjoy discounted future payments for their rentals.

The BrightLock Manager is an advanced web application designed by Havr to streamline access management for building administrators using Brightlock smartlocks. Contrast Studio undertook a comprehensive UI overhaul, enhancing the user experience and introducing a range of valuable features. These include an activity log to track access events, a revamped access sharing flow for seamless permissions management, and the introduction of lock grouping to simplify overall administration tasks. The new design offers a intuitive experience for building administrators to effortlessly manage access across their premises where Brightlocks are deployed.

Havr develops a smartlock named Brightlock which can be operated with the camera flash on most mobile phones. The mobile app, in addition to the smart lock, is the key piece to good user experience. We had the pleasure of working with Havr to design dozens of improvements and new features in the Brightlock mobile apps for both Android and iOS over 12+ months, before the company was sold.

SmartAlpha is a young and nimble accounting company from Romania. I've worked with the founders to define a brand image that reflects the teams' competence and ability to think strategically while keeping a close relationship with each of their customers. Smart Alpha is not just a service provider. They become true partners that support young companies in their journey.

We were brought on to bring to life some rough wireframes with visual design and prototyping. The app helps owners of Toyota cars to manage their vehicle and receive timely information about maintenance and safety.

Havr was a start-up with big plans to revolutionise the access control for remote facility management. We helped them clean up their logo and brand identity to better speak to the corporate clients they were addressing. Additionally, we helped refresh their Webflow website to help drive more conversions.

Challenge

Equip was a project of going from 0 to 1. I was connected in 2018 with Dan, the founder of Equip, through the talent network Toptal. Dan who was working on a new job board designed to the needs of construction workers, and needed a thought partner to help define his idea and build an MVP.

Process

The first step in the process is to understand the target audience and the competition. With Dan's direction, I studied a few competitor apps, and defined proto-personas for the 2-sided marketplace: one for the contractor looking for jobs, and one for the construction company owner looking to hire. With a clear understand of the problem space, we started architecting the system over a series of meetings in which we discussed feature ideas and synthesize them on a mind map (made in Coggle; see below). This mapping exercise helps maintain a high-level view of the solution without getting lost in the details of how any particular screen looks like. Also, the map outlines the entire system, not just the parts that made it in the MVP, which helped us build a future-proof solution that scales well, and start a product roadmap for all the features that where left out of v1.

Back in 2018, we embarked on a short yet inspiring journey known as the "North Star Exercise." Xapo, a forward-thinking company, sought a visionary outlook for their mobile app's future appearance in the next two years. During this two-week endeavor, we carefully considered ongoing projects and eagerly incorporated essential enhancements into the app. Working in close collaboration with the dedicated Product Manager overseeing the Xapo bank card program, we brought this vision to life. We extend our gratitude to the talented folks at Underdog for their great work on to the brand identity concept.

In response to popular demand, Xapo made a comeback in 2018 after temporarily suspending their bank card program. As part of their revival, we had the privilege of crafting an exceptional mobile app experience that empowers users to effortlessly order and seamlessly manage their Xapo card. Our dedicated design efforts aimed to enhance user satisfaction and ensure a smooth and convenient banking experience.
